Heather Bunge
Im originally from the small town of Golden, IL and lived there until I went to school at Illinois State University. I graduated from there in May of 2003 with a degree in Elementary Education. I stayed in Bloomington for almost two more years working as substitute teacher and at Kohls. At the beginning of April this year, I moved out to Redmond, WA to be with Matt as he started a new job. I am now substituting in a couple of school districts out here and working at the local Hallmark store.
How We Met
We met at the beginning of January, 2003 at Illinois State University. Matt had just graduated the previous month and had stayed there because of his job. Heather had one semester of school left doing her student teaching in Bloomington. We had some mutual friends that thought wed be perfect together, and arranged for all of us to hang out. We danced the night away, and somehow found our way home later that evening. I guess you could say the rest is history.

Matt Hawley
Im originally from Sullivan, IL but moved to Decatur the summer before second grade. I graduated from Illinois State University in December of 2002 with a degree in Computer Science. After graduating, I stayed in Bloomington to work for a small computer hardware and software company. In the middle of January of this year, I began the application and interview process for a programming position at Microsoft. In the middle of March, I was told that I had gotten the job and had to be out there in about four weeks. Needless to say, I couldnt pass down this opportunity and am now living in Redmond, WA working for Microsoft, my ultimate dream.
How it Happened
We had been looking at rings and I knew it was coming soon because I accidentally found the receipt in his coat pocket when I was looking for something else. I had always told Matt that I wanted him to ask my moms permissions before he asked me. My mom and younger brother were in town for the weekend and while I was at work that Saturday morning, he apparently completed the nerve-racking task of discussing it with my mom. That evening we had planned to go out for dinner with my family and while everyone was getting ready to go, he began to act a little weird. He told me to come back to the bedroom and I kept asking him why and he kept saying just come back here. I was really confused because I was all ready to go and waiting on everyone else. When I got back there, he pulled out the ring. All I remember after that is crying like crazy, him putting the ring on my finger and saying YES!. I even had to ask him later if he had got down on one knee. For all you romantics out there he says that he did, but I guess I will never really know.
